Zakat Al-Fitr Project
This project is responsible for collecting Zakat Al-Fitr and distributing it to its rightful recipients within Kuwait before the Eid prayer, in accordance with the approved Sharia guidelines. The goal is to bring joy to needy families and relieve them from asking on the day of Eid. Zakat Al-Fitr is one of the greatest acts of worship in Islam, reflecting the spirit of giving and social solidarity within the Muslim community. It purifies the fasting person, increases their reward, and helps secure the basic needs of poor families so they can celebrate Eid al-Fitr with everyone. Allah (SWT) says: “And establish prayer and give zakah and bow with those who bow [in worship].” (Al-Baqarah: 43) Zakat, in general, is one of the five pillars of Islam, and performing Zakat Al-Fitr during Ramadan reflects obedience to Allah’s command and enhances the concept of solidarity among community members. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ also said about Zakat Al-Fitr: "Fasting from one Ramadan to the next is an expiation for what happens between them, if major sins are avoided, and Zakat Al-Fitr is a purification for the fasting person from any indecent or foolish behavior and is a source of nourishment for the poor." (Narrated by Ibn Majah) This Hadith illustrates that Zakat Al-Fitr is not only a means of purifying the fast from any deficiencies but also a way to enrich those in need on the day of Eid. Through Zakat Al-Fitr, Muslims ensure that everyone can share in the joy of Eid without some suffering from poverty or need. Zakat Al-Fitr provides an opportunity for the Muslim community to cooperate and show mutual support. It contributes to reducing social disparities and enables poor families to celebrate Eid like everyone else. By distributing Zakat Al-Fitr, we not only help achieve economic stability for families but also instill values of giving and mercy within the community. Allah (SWT) says: “The charity is for the poor and the needy, and for those employed to collect it, and for those whose hearts are to be reconciled, and for freeing captives, and for those in debt, and for the cause of Allah, and for the traveler. It is an obligation from Allah, and Allah is All-Knowing, Wise.” (At-Tawbah: 60) This verse shows that zakat is directed to the poor and needy, which is the very goal of Zakat Al-Fitr: to provide food and essential needs to those who are most in need. This project serves as an opportunity to reaffirm the concept of social solidarity among Muslims and is a means to show mercy and provide support to needy families. Through this charitable act, we help poor families meet their needs and offer them the necessary assistance to enjoy Eid Al-Fitr without worry or shame.
